Betty E. Lubbers

Betty Elaine Lubbers, 91, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away Saturday, February 3^rd, 2018 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in the family farm house near Footville, Wisconsin on May 8, 1926, she was the oldest of daughter of the late Glen and Francis Klusmeyer.  Betty was preceded in death by siblings Kenneth Klusmeyer, Florabelle Lamb, and Jean Leathermon. Her surviving siblings are Mary Schoville and Everett Klusmeyer.

Betty graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in home economics and a minor in food chemistry. She attended the University of Wisconsin on a national 4H scholarship. Betty was the Wisconsin representative at the National 4H Club Congress in Chicago Illinois 2 years in a row.  Her interests in the 4H program of gardening, canning, and sewing stayed with her throughout her life.

Betty taught high school home economics for one year in Wisconsin. Later Betty attended Minnesota Bible College where she met her future husband, Paul Lubbers. Betty and Paul Lubbers were married on August 18, 1950. Betty and Paul recently celebrated their 67^th wedding anniversary. She is survived by three daughters, Miriam Hawkins (Phil), Martha Wade (Kenneth), and Paula Garland (Steve). Her son, John Lubbers, preceded her in death. She is survived by 7 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.

Betty taught weekly religious education in the public schools. She taught VBS, Sunday school and led some home Bible studies. She was the wife of pastor Paul Lubbers.

Betty’s quiet determination and never to give up attitude influenced the lives of many people.
