Beth Ann Shinn Gorman, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted wife passed away on January 15th, 2025, surrounded by much of her family.

Beth grew up in Peru, Indiana on the farm her parents owned. Her parents were John Beveridge Shinn and Mary Ann Leedy Shinn. She was the oldest of five children: John Shinn, Gale Shinn Stevens (husband Mark), Karl Shinn (wife Marsha), and Dale Shinn. She has many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and a niece. Beth was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dale.

As a child, Beth loved the company of her cousins, spending the summer reading all the books she could acquire, and swimming in the family pond. During the school year she loved reading more books and the company of her fellow students and teachers.

Beth’s family includes her lovingly devoted husband of 53 years David Gorman, her twins Sean Gorman and Ariana Gorman Duszynski (husband Thomas), grandchildren Nicole Casler, Nathan Casler (wife Lindsey Casler), Naomi Gorman (wife Idgie Neal), Grace Gorman, Luke Casler, Blaine Gorman, Jacob Casler, and Sage Gorman, and her great-grandchildren Jade Brushear, Nora Casler, Westley Renta Casler, Aliya Brushear, and Isla Casler.

Beth loved to travel with her husband and children (when they were kids and when they became adults). She loved baking and cooking with her children and grandchildren. She loved finding the perfect gifts for family and friends.

Beth had passion and skill for making jewelry, sewing clothing, and designing the interior of her home.

Beth loved taking trips, especially if the destination had either the ocean or the mountains. In recent years she enjoyed taking trips to the Smokey and Blue Ridge mountains and staying in cabins with her husband, daughter, and son in law. She found great peace just sitting and enjoying of the mountain views.

Beth never lost the enjoyment of reading. She loved mysteries, romances, and stories with a spiritual element.

Beth lover her cats. She loved all cats.

Beth’s professional career was in IT, starting as a keypunch operator, advancing to a programmer and system analysis. She enjoyed the challenges of a vocation which is always changing.

Beth volunteered as a tutor for adults who were learning to read. She helped with home school teaching one of her granddaughters.

We will have a celebration of life in the spring of 2025.
