Bertha F. “Mickey” (Auberry) Thatcher, 90, of Indianapolis passed away on February 17, 2018. She was born in Daviess County on June 26, 1927 to the late Austin and Lela (Colbert) Auberry.
Mickey was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Richard Thatcher; and her siblings, Robert Auberry, Betty (Auberry) Gordon, and Ronald Auberry; as well as son-in-law, Joseph Griffith.
She is survived by her brother, Carl Auberry; her children, Theresa (Phil) Seyfried, Steven (Nicki) Thatcher, and Connie Griffith; her grandchildren, Joseph Griffith, Amber (Cory) Isom, Stephen (Emily) Griffith, Michael (Tomisue) Beisel, Allison Thatcher, Dylan Griffith, Nicholas Thatcher, and Logan Griffith; and her great-grandchildren, Cameran Griffith, Colin Isom, Hayden Griffith, Isla Griffith, Briella Tarleton, Bennett Isom, Mazo Griffith, Madeline Isom, Neola Beisel, Kipling Griffith, and Kayson Beisel.
Mickey worked for RCA until Theresa was born and became a full time Mother and homemaker. Mickey was a wonderful cook and enjoyed spending time with her family and helping raise her grandchildren. She was a long-time member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church where Theresa, Steve and Connie attended grade school and she volunteered her time for many years. She also often accompanied her husband, the late Richard Thatcher, to meetings and events for the Indiana Thunderbird Club.
Visitation will be on Friday, February 23, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan-Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd., from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday, February 24th, 2018 at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, 6000 W. 34th St., at 11:00 a.m. with visitation one hour prior.
