Benny Pierce

April 11, 1940 — September 8, 2017

Benny Pierce, 77, passed away on September 8, 2017. He was born on April 11, 1940 in Hope, Kentucky to the late Robert and Artie Mae Pierce. He is one of 14 kids: 8 girls and six boys, counting himself. He met the love of his life, Delcie, at a young age. They were married and raised their daughters on the west side of Indianapolis.

Benny owned his own business operating a back hoe until he retired in 2002. He served proudly in the U.S. Army. Benny enjoyed cooking out with friends and family, going to the casino with his brother, and gardening sweet corn, cucumbers and tomatoes. He enjoyed playing poker and was a pretty good sport. Some called him the best poker player on the west side. But mostly, Benny will be remembered for his love for his family.

Benny is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Pierce-Byrd (Terry), Michelle Pierce-Bowen (Gary) and Vicky Huff (Terry); siblings, Raymond Pierce (Sue), Paul Pierce (Belinda), Thelma Curtis, and Marie Beall (Phil); grandchildren, Brian (Amber), Daymon, Kevin (Tammy), Miranda (Jerry), McKenzie and Jamie; great-grandchildren, Leah, Alex, Cass, Hope, Faith, and Kenzie.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Delcie Terry Pierce.
