Bennie, 83, of Indianapolis, Indiana was born in Ferguson, Kentucky to the Late Sanford and Edna Hamilton. Bennie is the first of five sisters to pass, preceded by her only brother, Parker.

Bennie married Carroll L. Newell on June 15, 1954 in Jellico, Tennessee. After Carroll got out of the Army they moved to Indiana where they raised three children: Elizabeth Smith (Tom), Brenda Dawson (Gordon), and Eddie. Carroll and Bennie were married 61 years before Carroll passed on September 14, 2015. Their life was fill of ups and downs, but most of all a lot of love.

Our Mom was a strong, loving mom. She never got too mad at us, but when she did – look out! She was a stay at home mom for years, along with babysitting many children. She then decided to go out into the work field. She became a court reporter and secretary to three judges at the City County Building in downtown Indianapolis. After retiring, she and Dad continued to enjoy life with their many vacations.

She is survived by her three children along with four grandchildren: Jennifer Brewer (Jeff), Benjamin King (Kristen), Kimberly Goodrich (Eric), and Charlie King. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Jackson and Kaitlyn Brewer, Audrey and Harrison Goodrich, Kennedy King, and Addison Drennan.

Our Mom was loved by all who ever knew or met her. We are thankful or her life and love for our Lord Jesus Christ. There was never a doubt that we would go to church every Sunday and Wednesday night services. She is now rejoicing in Heaven along with our Dad forever. We can only thank you, Mom, from the bottom of our hearts for the beautiful and loving mom you were.

Visitation for Bennie will take place on Sunday, November 10, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday, November 11 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates your donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, 50 E. 91st Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Bennie will be laid to rest next her beloved husband, Carroll, in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, Kentucky.
