Benjamin "Ben" Alan Bierlein

March 15, 1969 — April 9, 2021

Indianapolis, IN

Ben Bierlein was 52 years young when he passed away on April 9th, 2021. Ben was born in Columbus, IN on March 15, 1969, to wonderful parents, Alan and Jane Bierlein. Although they preceded him in death, we know they were there waiting to welcome him Home.

Ben is survived by his fabulous sister, Liz Leonard of Martinez, GA who literally saved his life by being his Bone Marrow Donor. We love and thank you so much Liz. John Leonard was more than a brother in-law to Ben as they are ATO brothers for life. Ben is also survived by three handsome brilliant nephews, Johnny, Nick and Michael Leonard. We love you boys and are so proud of the men you have become.

Ben graduated from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Mechanical Engineering and excelled in his career. When he would move to the next step in his career, he would leave huge shoes for the next person to attempt to fill. Anyone who ever met Ben loved him, respected him and were better for having known him.

Ben fought for life valiantly – no one could have fought harder – and there are so many people who will have our eternal gratitude and love. So many amazing Nurses, PCAs, ECMO Techs, Respiratory Techs, Housekeeping, Front Desk staff, Transport Team and some of the most fabulous Doctors and Chaplains. Many have become part of our Family. We know your hearts hurt too.

Ben has left behind so many wonderful friends, co-workers, neighbors, etc. His kindness and compassion for everyone and everything was inspiring. Please know, he loved you, as you loved him.

Ben also had the audacity to be survived by the ‘demon dogs’ – more politely referred to as his four legged kids – Crash, Mimi and Delilah. He was preceded in Passing by Jax, Gizzi, Lambeau and Lucky Penny and Walter – Just as with his parents, we know they were waiting to welcome him as well.

Ben was and will always be the life, love, and strength to his wife, Nadra. Forever + 1 and then some.
