On Saturday, December 3, 2022, Barbara Parker-Davis, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at age 81. Born in Kenmore, Ohio, Barbara grew up with three sisters (Carol, Patricia, and Norena) and two brothers (John and James) and was raised by a single mom, Paulyne. She completed her bachelor’s degree in English and minor in theater from Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio. Barbara also received her master’s in education at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She taught AP English, World Literature and Composition for 43 years. Most of that time teaching at North Central High School, in Indianapolis. After the first time she retired she taught at Hasten Hebrew Academy in Indianapolis before retiring again. Her love and passion for education was honored multiple times through earning several teaching awards in excellence, nominated by her students.
Barbara was a constant light and support in the lives of her daughter, Norena Kazmierczak, son-in-law, Kurt Kazmierczak and grandchildren, Samantha and Erek. She was deeply loved by her family and friends. She had a passion for reading, dogs, and shopping at Goodwill and thought of others first. She has now joined her husband Thomas Davis and her dog, Casper, in heaven. Services will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens and her Celebration of Life will follow at Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite) on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 2:00pm EDT.
