Barbara Sue Jones

Barbara Sue (Toliver) Jones passed away on December 6, 2022, at the age of 87. She was born July 19, 1935, in Mitchell, Indiana to the late Cecil and Florence (Wilson) Toliver. She graduated in 1952 from Mitchell High School and married John Doyle Jones later that year. She and John were married three weeks shy of 70 years upon her passing away. They resided in Decatur Township for 60 years before moving to Greenfield in 2019. She was an active member of West Newton United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women while there, until her move to Greenfield. She graduated from Indiana University at Indianapolis with a Nursing degree in 1976 then completed other degrees in 1982 and 1986. She retired as a nurse from Wishard Memorial Hospital in 1996 after 20 years of service. She served as a Camp Fire Girls Leader, a 4-H Leader, taught Diabetes Education at Wishard Hospital and spent time after her retirement volunteering at the Brightwood Community Center. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and visited all 50 states and Canada. According to her family she was quite the trip planner for all of them and loved spending time with them.
She was the mother of Kim (Mark) Lozier of Greenfield, John (Jackie) Jones of Denham Springs, Louisiana, the late Lori Pearcy, David (Sheri) Jones of Murray, Kentucky, and Joni (Dave) Johnson of Indianapolis. She had 11 grandchildren (Joe Pearcy, Meaghan Myers, Allyson Williams, Nathan Jones, Ben Jones, Ashleigh Baker, Whitney Davis, Kristin White, Amberlie Morris, Caleb Morris, Hunter Jones) and 10 great-grandchildren (Leona, Wyatt and Maggie Pearcy, Ian and Anna Kate Jones, Cooper and Shiloh Davis, Jackson and LoriAnn Williams, Senna White). Besides her parents and daughter, she was preceded in death by her siblings – Kenneth Toliver, Robert Toliver and Frances Wright. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Flanner and Buchanan Decatur Township 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana 46221. Services on Tuesday, December 13 at 11:00 AM at West Newton United Methodist Church, 6843 Mendenhall Road, Indianapolis, Indiana 46221 with visitation one hour prior. Burial at West Newton Cemetery.
