Barbara M. Griffin

Barbara Marie Griffin, 82, passed away on November 8, 2020 in Noblesville, Indiana.

Barbara was born May 23, 1938 in Covington Kentucky, living most of her life in Indianapolis. She was the oldest of eleven children. She raised 5 children as a single parent, working 2 jobs at times to make ends meet. With three of her children still at home, she returned to school at age 42. She earned her high school diploma and graduated with her son Douglas in 1981 from Warren Central High School. Barbara’s children were always her life. Nothing made her happier than seeing them all together with their families. Barbara retired on her seventy-third birthday in 2011 after 25 years of service at Forum at the Crossing Retirement Community.

She is survived by (7) siblings, Harlan (Skeets), Larry, Brenda, Carmalita, and Dennis Griffin, Lieurena Jones, and Patricia Riech; (4) children, David (Jennifer) Brattain, Diana (Steven) Schmalz, Douglas (Lisa) Brattain and Gregory (Melissa) Griffin; (12) grandchildren and (6) great-grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Harlan C. Griffin and Helen M. (VanHook) Griffin; siblings Sonja Hunter, Donald Griffin, James Griffin, son Daren Kirk Brattain and grandson Kurt Brattain.

Due to the COVID epidemic, services will be held in private at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
