Barbara “Barb” Anne (Litmer) Lemen, 75, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side early Wednesday morning, February 28, 2024 at her home in Indianapolis. One of three children of Donald and Blanche Litmer, Barb was born in Covington, KY on February 3^rd, 1949.

Barb grew up in the Indianapolis area graduating from North West High School with the class of 1967. She was introduced by her mother to her soon-to-be husband whom she married in 1977. After starting a family of her own, she returned to school to earn her Bachelor of Science in Education. Barb taught elementary school for 10 years before retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren whom she adored.

Over the years, Barb volunteered her time and talents for various organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Christ Renews His Parish, Joseph Maley Foundation and Birth Line. In her leisure, she enjoyed spending time on the farm, tending to her flowers as a Certified Master Gardener, and visiting with family and friends. Barb could light up a room with her smile. She had a kind, generous heart and an outgoing nature that made her special and loved. She was an inspiration to her family and many others and will be remembered fondly by everyone. Barb leaves a legacy of love and generosity that will live on in our hearts forever.

Barb is survived by her husband, Don Lemen; children, Rob (Kate) Lemen and Annie (Kyle) Mills; grandchildren, Sadie and Julien Mills; brother Jim (Toni) Litmer; sister Tina (Jim) Seebeck.

In lieu of flowers, the Lemen family asks that you pay it forward as Barb would do. A suggested memorial contribution would be to Birth Line or American Cancer Society, but any good deed in Barb’s name is appreciated.
