Barbara Jean Whitaker

Barbara Jean Whitaker, 95, passed away peacefully at Hoosier Village in Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 30, 2020 of complications from a stroke. After graduating from Shortridge High School in Indianapolis, Barbara was a student at The Art Institute in Chicago, Illinois. She loved spending time in her flower gardens, playing golf, making long lasting friendships, and traveling around the world. Barb was the daughter of the late Laura and Earl Rider of Fortville, Indiana, and the wife of the late William B. Whitaker. Barb and Bill met at Sears Roebuck in Anderson, Indiana, while she was working in their advertising department. She is survived by her beloved children, Bill Whitaker, Katie Buschmann and David Whitaker, her grandchildren, Carrie, Katie, Zach, Laura Jane, Sarah, and Tess, and her great grandchildren, William, Jane, Georgia, Miles, Nora and Ty.
A celebration of life will be held post Covid. Internment will be private.
