Barbara Jo (Coslett) Grant was born in Indianapolis, IN August 17, 1938 to Frances Jones Coslett and Ray Coslett. Barbara was preceded in death by both of her parents, Sisters Patricia Patrick, Mary Flynn, Betty Wilson, and Sue Mattingly and Brothers William Coslett and Jack Coslett, and her son Gary L. Blue and Daughter Lisa D Grant, Son in Law James Bryan Long, and six nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her husband Ralph D Grant, Sisters Connie Dooley and Julie Spurgeon (Mike), Daughters Kathy Sanders, Sheri Bunting, Karen Long and Son Larry J Blue (Bridget), and, Grandchildren Mark Blue (Paula), Krisha Blue-McCain (Jeremy), Stephanie Burton, Michael Burton, Stacy Frye (Andrew), Tabitha Gardner ( Dustin), Christina Potter (Jacob), Mandy Blue, Jesse Blue, Kathy Barker, Katie Barker, and Adam Hansel and 19 great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and everyone who knew and loved her.
Barbara grew up in the Valley and attended George Washington High School. She raised four children whom she adored. She and Ralph were immersed in their community as they grew Quickway, the small neighborhood grocery store they owned. She was a member of Valley Mills Christian Church where she rededicated her Christian life and was baptized again in 1995 along with her husband. She was active in the church where she was involved in outreach and support programs as well as a Bible Study group.
Her hobbies included embroidery, crochet, quilting and baking and she was counted on to bring her wonderful treats to all gatherings. Her children and grand children was a major part of her life and she enjoyed all the time she spent with them, especially during the holidays. She was much loved and will be missed by all.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2023, at Valley Mills Christian Church, 5555 Valley Mills Christian Church, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46221 with entombment to follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the same location from 10 a.m. until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, tribute donations in her name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at act.alz.org.
