Indianapolis, Indiana Barbara A. Gilyeat, age 77, died December 11, 2017. She was born May 31, 1940 in Oil City, Pennsylvania to Sophie Idzi Martyna and John Martyna. She was later adopted by Melville Marcus. Barbara is survived by her husband, Richard Gilyeat and her sister, Rita Dickson and Barbara’s son Richard Jr. (Mary); daughters Angela (Michael) Attebury; Christine (Dan) Abrams, Laura (Michael) Callahan; grandchildren, Danielle and Paula Abrams; John (Nicolle) Gilyeat, Kaitlin and Andrew Hayworth; and Rachel Callahan; her husband’s sister and brother, Joan Moyer and Robert (Barbara) Gilyeat. Barbara was predeceased by her mother Sophie McKeigan and her infant daughter Carol Ann Gilyeat. Barbara graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas Grade School and Broad Ripple High School. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. She was active in all her children’s PTO’s. She was a Cub Scout Dean Leader; a 20 plus year Republican Precinct Committeewoman and active in the Eastwood Neighborhood Association. Barbara dearly loved her children and grandchildren. Her heart was truly made of gold. Services will be at Flanner-Buchanan Oaklawn Memorial Gardens – (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road on Thursday, December 14, 2017, with visitation from 12:00pm to 2:00pm with Funeral services at 2:00pm, burial at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Memorial Contributions Gifts to the Boy Scouts of America, Riley Children’s Hospital or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
