Ardella Lois Haberman

August 28, 1928 — June 1, 2019

Avon, Indiana

Ardella Lois Haberman (Jensen), 90, of Avon, Indiana passed away June 1, 2019. She was born August 28, 1928 in Ellendale, Minnesota to James H. and Agnes Jensen; she was one of 4 children.

Born and raised in Minnesota, Ardella and her family followed the late Richard E. Haberman’s (12/28/1995) career across state lines to Tennessee and finally to Indiana, where they planted their roots and remain today. For many years, she worked as a nurses aid in Owatonna, Minnesota; it was there her compassion in caring for others took flight. She was never afraid to lend a helping hand to those in need, especially the elderly. Ardella was also a cook for various restaurants throughout her career, she loved cooking for others and was quite talented in the kitchen. She also enjoyed sewing, cross-stitching, and knitting her famous slippers. She sewed her children’s clothing and even sewed doll clothing for her grandchildren, ensuring each stitch was made with love. Ardella made sure to visit Minnesota every summer and always attended her class reunions, but her favorite trip of all was traveling to Germany to see her son, Duane, while he was in the military; she truly cherished that once in a lifetime experience.  She also loved jewelry and attending craft fairs, but above all else, Ardella loved her family. She took pride in being a wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She was a faithful member of Valley Mills Christian Church, where she joined in the late 1990’s. Though all of these things describe Ardella’s beautiful 90 years on earth, the lifetime of love and memories will not be forgotten by those who were blessed enough to meet her. Peace can be found in knowing she knew the Lord and we will see her again one day.

Ardella is preceded in death by her parents, James Henry Jensen and Agnes Jenson (Anderson); former husband, Richard E. Haberman; brother, Howard Jenson; sister, L. Marjorie Swearingen. Surviving to cherish her memory are children, Charles E. (Mary Beth) Haberman, Steven C. (Nancy) Haberman, Duane C. Haberman, Lois J. Sullivan, and James A. (Linda) Haberman; sister, Lorraine Lunning; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.
