Anupum M. Thiel, 56, of Noblesville passed away May 4, 2022. She was born July 10, 1965, in Durban, South Africa, the daughter of Sewmangal Manooa and Rajday Dehal. She moved to Virginia in 1980 and graduated from Indian River High School in in Chesapeake, VA in 1986 where she completed a two-year program in Occupational Child Care Services. She moved to Lake Worth, Florida in 1986. She met her husband to be at the Ark Restaurant & Nightclub in 1992, and married Kurt D. Thiel on September 15, 1995.
She worked as a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Comfort Inn in West Palm Beach and had their first child, Anisha Thiel, in 1997. They moved together to Indiana in 1998 and she had her second child, Meera Thiel, in 1998, in Indianapolis. They moved to Bloomington, IN in 1999 and she was a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Four Winds Resort, and later became the Assistant Director at Penny Lane Day Care that was also attended by her children.
Anupum was a dedicated wife and mother and loved taking care of and teaching children. She had her third daugher, Kaleena Thiel in Noblesville in 2003. She attended Ivy Tech in the early 2000’s where she received her Early Childhood Education CDA and went on to teach in Indianapolis and surrounding area childcare facilities, and later operated a home daycare. She very much enjoyed cooking, loved crafting, and was a talented painter.
She is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Kurt Thiel; their three daughters, Anisha, Meera, and Kaleena Thiel; mother, Rajday Manooa; three sisters, Chanchal Newton, Chameli Jain, and Chandni (Nathan Jarvis) Manooa; special Aunt Jesse; and a large, adoring extended family. She was preceded in passing by her father, Sewmangal Manooa and brother-in-law, George Newton.
A Celebration of Life will be at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Flanner Buchanan – Hamilton Memorial Park, 4180 Westfield Road. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. The family requests that guests wear colorful clothing that reflects Anupum’s spirit. Memorial contributions may made in her name to Third Phase in Noblesville, IN or to Wheeler Mission in Indianapolis designating designate to Programs for Homeless Women and Children.
