Anthony Allen Southers

Anthony Allen Southers, Jr. (aka “Tony”) was born September 3, 1949 Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Mary Catherine Harris and Anthony Southers, Sr.  Anthony was educated and graduated through the Indianapolis Public School System.

Anthony started working at Safeway Foods at age 22 as a meat cutter.  He worked there for 45 years until his retirement in January 2016.  He loved spending time at home, spending time with family and friends bowling, sitting outside on the porch, playing Yahtzee with his wife and watching football.

Anthony passed away at home on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 after a courageous battle with prostate cancer.  Anthony will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Mary Catherine Allen and Anthony Southers, Sr. and his two sisters Alphonsa Ward-Cox and Mary Jo Washington.

Anthony is survived by his wife Martha Southers; his only daughter Michelle Southers; step-daughter Kenya Daniels; step-sons Kenneth Daniels, Jr. and Ian Lowe; granddaughter Laila Breaux Southers; step-granddaughters Dyajah Hyde and Arianna Norris-Lowe; his aunt Hennie; two sisters Shirley Little and Deborah Miles; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, loved ones and friends.
