Annette Baade Dunlap, 84, passed peacefully after a long, courageous battle with COPD on June 4, 2022 with her beloved daughter by her side. Annette was born November 22, 1937 in Barrington, Illinois, the eldest daughter of Earl and Florence Baade. Annette and her younger sister, Sharon, were raised in Barrington and grew up with a large extended German farming family in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. Annette graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Radio and Television Broadcasting, becoming the first in her immediate family to graduate from college. While at IU, Annette began a life-long membership in Alpha Omicron Pi sorority maintaining friendships with several sorority sisters for more than 65 years. After graduation from IU, Annette joined WFBM channel 6 (now WRTV) in Indianapolis as a writer for more than five years. After a short stint as a stay-at-home mom, Annette reignited her career with public relations and advertising roles until becoming the Advertising Sales Manager for Indianapolis Magazine. She continued to grow her career as the Advertising Sales Manager and Assistant Publisher at Comcast and then as the General Manager for Indianapolis Woman Magazine. Prior to retirement, Annette worked at Macy’s. Annette volunteered throughout her adult life for Indianapolis events like the Pan Am games and for organizations like Community North hospital and the United Christmas Fund.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Dunlap Radle and her husband Loran, her sister Sharon Bullock (Grant), nephews Chris (Dale), Paul (Tim) and Jason Bullock, great nephew and nieces Aidan, Riley, Ella and Rachel, several cousins and grand dog Bart.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Conner Suite), 9700 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, IN 46250, where funeral services will immediately follow, beginning at 2:00 p.m. Entombment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Annette was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Carmel, Indiana. Annette generously championed the environment and homeless people and animals. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to IndyHumane, Wheeler Mission or the National Wildlife Federation.
