Anneliese Anastasia Ebersole, passed away on Monday, May 6th in Carmel, IN at the age of 45 years after an extended illness.
Visitation hours at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Carmel, Indiana, are Wednesday, May 8th, from 6 pm to 8 pm and also on Thursday, May 9th from 10 am to 11 am with an Orthodox funeral service to follow at 11 am. The burial service for family and close friends will be on Friday, May 10th, at 1 pm at Cedar Grove Cemetery on the campus of the University of Notre Dame.
Anneliese Ebersole was born Anneliese Hahn in Mishawaka, Indiana. She is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s High School in South Bend where she was a star varsity athlete in both soccer and tennis. She then enrolled at Notre Dame University and obtained both a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Biology from the Home of the Irish. She has continued to be an enthusiastic supporter of everything Notre Dame. Anneliese went on to do research for the Biopsychology Program at the University of Chicago for several years before she married the attorney Dr. Ted Ebersole and moved to Washington D.C. to work at the National Institute of Aging. Eager to continue her academic career, she enrolled in the Johns Hopkins University’s School of Public Health. She was awarded a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from this distinguished institution with a dissertation that analyzed the impact of social factors such as loneliness on the physiology of the elderly. When her husband Ted accepted the position of Patent Counsel at Eli Lilly and Company, the family relocated to the Indianapolis area and has been living in Zionsville, Indiana ever since. She devoted her full attention to raising their daughters Anastasia and Annamaria ever since. The Ebersole family enjoys traveling together and did so extensively. Their trips took them to Central Europe, Skandinavia, New Zealand, Iceland, the Carribean, Singapore, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, South America, as well as Fiji, Tahiti, and the Maldives. As students of Sycamore School in Indianapolis and accomplished tennis players and skiers, both of Anneliese’s daughters inherited her passions for academics and sports. Anneliese was a person of faith and a life-long member of the Greek Orthodox Church.
Anneliese is survived by her husband Dr. Ted Ebersole, their daughters Anastasia and Annamaria Ebersole, her parents Professors Marianne and Alexander Hahn, her uncle Dr. Nikolaos Touroutoglou, and her aunts Angelica Mullery, Lena Naxiadis, and Lili Delimbeuf.
