Ann Marie Schnuelle, 91, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, October 7, 2017. She was born on June 22, 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska to the late James F. and Lela E. (Nielsen) Petersen. Ann was a 1944 graduate of Omaha Technical High School and attended Doane College in Crete, Nebraska where she met her future husband, Lloyd Schnuelle. They were married on September 5, 1948 and celebrated 64 years of marriage before his passing in 2012.
Ann and Lloyd relocated with their young family to the Indianapolis area in 1963. She retired from Aetna Life and Casualty in June of 1986 after 16 years of service. Ann enjoyed serving as a Girl Scout Leader for 11 years and was an honorary member of the Nebraska PTA. She was also a longtime member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Indianapolis, where she was active in the quilter’s group.
Ann is survived by her children, David (Cindy) Schnuelle of Pasadena, CA, Laura (Bill) Steenstrup of Rushville, IN, Kay (Roger) Daniel of Bloomington, IN; grandchildren, Jill (Scott) Richardson of Indianapolis, Amy (Chris) Kurtz of Overland Park, KS, Tim and Kelsey Daniel, both of Bloomington, IN, Liz (Daniel) Wood of Sacramento, CA and Justin Schnuelle of Hermosa Beach, CA; and 4 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings, James F. Petersen, Jr. and Joyce Strong.
A celebration of Ann’s life will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 2pm at Bethlehem Lutheran Church: 526 E. 52nd St. Indianapolis, IN 46205. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Indianapolis. Friends are invited to leave online condolences for the family at www.flannerbuchanan.com.
