Ann Awe

December 21, 1923 — September 16, 2019

Indianapolis, Indiana

Ann Awe, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at the age of 95.
Ann’s family immigrated to Ellis Island, New York from Germany and settled in Grand Island, Nebraska, where Ann was born to Paul and Frieda Prietzsch on December 21, 1923. Several months following the families’ arrivals to Nebraska, 3 year old Herb Awe and his mother paid a visit to Mrs. Prietzsch and baby Ann, who was saved from crawling off the bed when Herb grabbed Ann’s diaper and shouted, “The little one is falling!”. The families both moved to Columbus, Ohio but went their separate ways until Ann and Herb’s paths once again crossed as young adults. Following Herbert’s service in WW 11, the couple was married and formed Team Awe which flourished for 60+ years until Herbert’s passing in 2009. While Herbert provided for his family, Ann made a loving and caring homemaker. She was always a very frugal and straight forward woman. Her strength and dedication kept her family together, happy, and strong. Ann will be missed by all who knew her.

Ann and Herb’s daughter Becky Emerson (Tom) will remember and gratefully celebrate their lives in the company of granddaughters Laura Richardson (Bill) and Beth Ott (Brandon). Her four great grandchildren, Emma and Wesley Richardson and Grace and Owen Ott, are old enough to carry memory of GG.

A gathering of friends and family will join in Ann and Herb’s Celebration Of Life service Monday, October 21 at 6pm in the Robin Run Chapel.
