Anita Marguerite (Martin) Price, born June 1, 1927, deceased February 2, 2018 in New Orleans, LA. made a peaceful transition in her Zionsville home surrounded by family. Mrs. Price nurtured a loving home, later returning to college to complete her bachelor’s degree. She went on to obtain her master’s degree in education. Mrs. Price served on the national board of the YWCA and on the local board of the CICOA Aging and In-Home Solutions in Indianapolis. Mrs. Price was committed to community advocacy and served for ten years leading the AARPs Health Advocacy Service and later for seven years as the volunteer state president of AARP Indiana. She served as a longtime member of the volunteer AARP legislative team which raised awareness of issues facing the elderly before the Indiana General Assembly. In 2010, Mrs. Price was the recipient of the Andrus Award for Community Service from AARP Indiana. This award is AARP’s the highest volunteer honor. It recognizes one volunteer who has impacted and improved the lives of those over 50 and inspired others to do the same. The Indiana Commission for Women honored Mrs. Price in 2010 with its Lifetime Achievement Award. Mrs. Price’s volunteer resume also includes the Pink Ladies at Community Hospital Anderson Urban League Guild, Madison County Medical Auxiliary and the Hamilton County Senior Money Management Program. Anita was preceded by her husband of 51 years, Ambrose M. Price, M.D. (deceased 1999). She is survived by one sibling, two children, 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. She transitioned after an extended illness and will always be remembered for her joyful, loving, and caring spirit. Her pride in caring for others and for her service to community Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the church chapel immediately followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. Both will be held at St. Monica’s Catholic Church, 6131 Michigan Rd, Indianapolis, IN Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to: The United Negro College Fund and The American Cancer Society.
