Anita Rose Clark

January 25, 1935 — March 13, 2025

Indianapolis, Indiana

Anita R. Clark passed from this life on March 13, 2025. Born January 25, 1935 to Lee R. and Ruth (Atkins) Bloomenstock in Indianapolis, Indiana, she joined two older siblings, Robert (Bob) and Thelma. After her mother passed away when Anita was only 15 years old, she was raised by her father and maternal grandfather and grandmother (to whom she was especially close). As a child, Anita attended IPS School 50 with her lifelong best friend Nula Purichia (Harmon). After her grandparents’ deaths, Anita and her father moved into the home of her sister Thelma, and Thelma’s husband Edward Bopp on Warman Avenue, where she bunked with her little nephew Eddie (before her second nephew, Johnny, was born). After graduating from Washington High School in 1953, Anita attended Indiana State Teachers College studying elementary education where she joined Zeta Tau Alpha, making many friends she would stay in touch with for the rest of her life. One evening in 1961, Anita met a dashing former US Navy sailor, Larry Clark, at a dance at The 55 Club (both Anita and Larry were awe-inspiring dancers). The two married in 1962 and made their home in Speedway, where Anita taught in the Speedway school system before teaching in IPS. Over the next several years, the couple had three children, Mark, Mike, and Susie. Anita and Larry’s home on Hollister Drive was a place filled with lots of laughter and fun and became the main hangout of all their children’s friends. (Susie to this day believes her friends came to see Anita more than they came to see her). After their kids moved out and started their own families, Anita and Larry moved into other homes, eventually settling in Avon. Larry passed away in August, 2013 and Anita lived proudly on her own for nearly 12 more years until poor health forced her into the hospital when she was almost 90 years old. Anita is preceded in death by her parents, her sister and brother, and her husband, Larry. She is survived by her children, Mark (Christie) Clark, Mike (Robin) Clark, and Susie (Steve) Schaecher, her grandchildren Sarah Clark, Matthew (Mallory) Clark, Zachary (Olivia) Clark, Nathan (Kayli) Schaecher, Lindsey Schaecher, and Nicholas Schaecher and great-grandchildren Cohen and Cooper Clark. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Wounded Warrior Project or Shriners Hospitals for Children
