Andrew Orr Jr.

Mr. Andrew George Washington Orr, Jr. was born on January 15, 1938, in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Andrew George Washington, Sr. and Rebecca Durham. He attended IPS Schools #23 and #17 and graduated from Crispus Attucks High School. He confessed his hope in Christ at an early age as a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

On December 25, 1955, he was united in Holy Matrimony to Elnora Smith, and their union was blessed with 3 songs and a daughter.

He was employed by McFarland Foods and worked for Detroit Diesel Allison for 30 years until his retirement in 1993.

Mr. Andrew G.W. Orr, Jr. was a faithful member of Saint Andrew Catholic Church for over 50 years and served in many different capacities including, a Eucharistic Minister, coach, grand knight at Sr. Peter Claver, volunteer for Saint Vincent DePaul, and usher. He later joined Saint Michael Catholic Church, where he continued his service and enjoyed delivering food, clothing, and household items to the needy.

Andrew was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards, shooting pool, watching western movies, and entertaining guests.

As a sharp dresser, Mr. Andrew Orr, Jr. was well known as “The Original Godfather.” He and Elnora were models for the House of Jayne.

Mr. Andrew George Washington Orr, Jr. departed this life and entered his eternal life on Monday, February 1, 2021, at Methodist Hospital at 12:01 A.M. at the age of 83 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew G.W. Orr, Sr. and Rebecca Orr; daughter Deborah Ann Orr; and son Minister Anthony Orr, Sr.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 65 years, Elnora Orr; sons Andrew Orr III, Antonio (Marcella) Orr; brothers Ronald (Patricia) Orr, Henry (Jill) Orr, Mark (Vonnie) Orr, and Stephen Lowe; sisters, Mary Oliver and Janice Lindsey; 8 Grandchildren; 17 Great-Grandchildren; 8 Great-Great-Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, church family, and friends.
