Andrew (Andy) Jacob Iams was born on February 18th, 1977, in Louisville Kentucky. At three months old he moved to Indianapolis where he has lived ever since. Andy is a graduate of Pike High School. While there, he enjoyed playing for the varsity soccer team. He also was a team member in several different travel soccer leagues. Andy attended IUPUI and his main interest lay in the study of Psychology.
Andy was especially fond of animals. He cared for many stray dogs and raised his beloved “Pip” from a puppy. Andy was always sensitive to the needs of others. He was a perceptive student of human nature. His friends and family cherished his sense of humor and valued him as a friend, sibling, and son. Andy struggled with the effects of a traumatic brain injury, but he strove to remain independent and improve his health by participating in several local marathons.
Andy will be united with his father, John, and his brother Chris. Andy is survived by his mother Mary Iams, brother Tim Iams (Tim’s wife Sarah, and daughters Audrey and Leona Iams), and his sister Amy Iams (Amy’s husband Peter Arko, and their daughter Eva Arko). Andy also has a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Andy will remain in our hearts always. Memorial contributions may be made to Back on My Feet or Brain Injury Association of Indiana.
