Andrew "Andy" Charles Vasiento

Andrew “Andy” Charles Vasiento, Jr, 73, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2018 at his home. He was born on Friday, April 13, 1945 to Andrew Charles and Anna Gloria (Prendino) Vasiento in Brooklyn, New York. Andy graduated from St. Francis Prep in 1962 of Brooklyn, NY and went on to college at the Community College of NY where he graduated in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. He then proceeded to dedicate his career as an accountant for various companies over the years. Andy married Ellenmarie Sarsfield on September 28, 1968 in Brooklyn, NY in which they just celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary. They moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1972 where he resided until his death.

Andy never knew a stranger. He was loved by many for the way he touched their lives through faith and prayer. He will always be remembered for his family values, passion towards his faith, volunteerism, an avid New York Yankees fan and his lucky number 13. Andy was a long time member of the St. Monica Catholic Church of Indianapolis, IN, where he spent many hours spreading his faith, hope and prayers to others. In his spare time, Andy enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golfing and fellowship with family & friends along with being highly active with the following church groups over his 35+ years in the parish, Knights of Columbus, Athletic Committee, Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA), Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP), Eucharistic Minister, Sick & Shut In Ministry, Prayer Tree, Men’s club, Food Pantry, and Church Festival.

Andy is survived by his wife, Ellenmarie Vasiento, children: Nicole K. Rosen (husband: Jay) of Lafayette, IN, Andrew C. Vasiento, 3rd of Indianapolis, IN, Christopher J. Vasiento (wife: Jenn Herr) of Indianapolis, IN and Amanda M. Vasiento of Killian, TX; grandchildren: Jayden E. & Jayla K. Rosen of Lafayette, IN; Callie M. & Isabella G. Vasiento of Indianapolis, IN and Kolton C. Vasiento of Indianapolis, IN; Siblings: Isabel Theesfeld (husband Alan) of New Jersey & George Vasiento of California.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Sr. and Anna Vasiento.

Calling will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at St. Monica Catholic Church of Indianapolis, IN from 4-8pm with additional calling on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 9-10am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10am. Inurnment will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Cemetery following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made in Andy’s memory to the St. Monica-Witherspoon Presbyterian Food Pantry.
