Amie Ruth Starr

Amie Ruth Starr, 75, of Indianapolis, passed away on June 28, 2019.

She was born on November 3, 1943 in Richmond, Indiana to the late Norla and Margaret Maiden. She graduated from Richmond High School, worked as a pre-school teacher at Gentle Shepherd Preschool, was bank teller for Merchants Bank and Central Federal Credit Union for many years, and worked in retail for Ayres and Macy’s for over 15 years. She was active in the PTO for School 62 and was very involved with scouting; she served as a den mother for boy scouts and troop leader for girl scouts. Amie was passionate about bowling and her card clubs and enjoyed her time at home crocheting. But above all else, the most important thing was family, she loved being a mother and grandmother and made it a point to go to all the grandkids activities and spend time as a family. She will be dearly missed by those who knew her.
She leaves behind her children David (Lori) Starr, Greg (Leonora) Starr, Becky Starr-Hamm (Dorrie Hamm) and Kevin (Julie) Starr; grandchildren Zach, Adam, Nathan, Emily, Allison, Gabriel, Luke, Tyler & Olivia and a host of others. She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, Earl Edward “Ed” Starr.
Friends and family are invited to gather from 4:00-8:00pm on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East with a funeral service to take place at 11:00am on Wednesday, July 3, 2019. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
