Amanda Elaine Baker

March 22, 1982 — February 5, 2019

Brownsburg, Indiana

With immense sadness, the family of Amanda Elaine Baker, born March 22, 1982, announces her passing on February 5, 2019 at her home in Brownsburg, IN surrounded by family after a 16-month battle with colorectal cancer.

Born in Indianapolis, Amanda spent much of her childhood in various towns across the country before settling in Florida. She attended Florida State University briefly before moving back home to Brownsburg, IN. Amanda graduated from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis with a Bachelor of Science in Business from the Kelley School of Business and a certificate in Event Management. She was employed at PNC Bank for more than ten years. She was a proud member of Phi Mu Fraternity, for which she volunteered for several years as an alumna.

She lived her life with a positive spirit and drive to make the world a better place. She illustrated throughout her life how an unbridled passion can bring immense joy to you and those around you. Her presence lit every room she entered and inspired hundreds to be more comfortable in their own skin and love their lives.

Amanda was an avid supporter of the arts – both plays on- and off-Broadway and the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra – and loved more than anything to be at a concert or music festival. Her favorite band, 311, which she saw more than 60 times, brought inspiration and meaning to her life.

During her unimaginable battle with cancer, she was lucky enough to have an army of people helping to support her. Amanda’s Army’s impact was immeasurable on how Amanda continued to fight with every ounce she could with a positive attitude.

She is survived by her husband, Alex, their son, Riley, her father and step-mother, Joe and Jackie, her mother and step-father, Laura and Mel, her brother, Clint, step-siblings, Jessica, James and Jonathan, and grandmother, Jan.

A Celebration of Life & Memorial Service will be held on March 9 with the Celebration of Life beginning at 1:11 p.m. and the Memorial Service beginning at 3:11 p.m. at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North.
