Allen P. Eggers of Indianapolis, IN died on February 15, 2017 at the age of 97. He was born on April 17, 1919 in Putnam County, IN son of Grover and Gladys Eggers.
Allen graduated from Knightstown High School in 1937 and served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII. Allen graduated from the Indiana University School of Business in 1955. His career was spent working in Personnel Management for the US Government for over 30 years in various departments including the Civil Service Commission, Interstate Commerce Commission, Federal Trade Commission, and the Federal Communications Commission. He was the acting Director of Personnel upon his retirement. He was a member of Faith United Church of Christ, the American Legion Post 252 and the VFW Post 2999. In his free time, he enjoyed golf, dancing, woodworking, and painting.
Allen is survived by his children Angela Bromstrup (Thomas), Jeffrey A. Eggers (Lois), and Howard T. Eggers; step-children Cathy Wood (Dean) and Dianne Hunter; grandchildren Bryan T. Bromstrup (Melanie), Jennifer L. Richardson, Kyle W. Bromstrup (Dennis), Adam C. Eggers (Nicole), Marianne Galczynski (Scott), Emma L. Fox (Matt), Jennifer Wood, Michael Wood, Joe Wood, Andrew Hunter and Laura Hunter; 6 great-grandchildren; and special caregivers Ronical Harris, Linda Buckley, Valerie Trees, Berna Dinsmore, and Ruth Ann Lane. He was preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children Mary V. Eggers and his second wife Evelyn Newport Eggers; parents Grover P. Eggers and Gladys Luellen; and sisters Eileen Eggers and Ina Claire Hibbert. The family also thanks the staff of Greenwood Village South for their loving care.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 20, 2017 at 1:30 PM with visitation 12:30 PM until the time of service at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. Burial will follow at Glen Cove Cemetery, Knightstown, IN.
