Alicia Nevaeh “Leci” Whitmore died peacefully on May 23rd, 2021 at Riley Hospital for Children from complications of fibromuscular dysplasia, a condition she had been battling throughout her life. Though small, Alicia was the strongest person her mother knew. A Junior in the CIP Special Needs Program at Franklin Central High School, she loved school, music, mimicking animals of all kinds, outdoor exploring, giving orders, and her family.
She suffered over the years with her condition, but at the same time, loved and was loved, laughed and took pleasure in her family, her school and her friends and filled their hearts with joy. She kept track of what was hers and who was hers. She never conceded that she was less than or different; nor did the people who love her. She blessed them for 18 years and they will treasure her forever.
No publication has the space to include the full list of people who loved Leci, but we will share the cliff notes: she is survived by her mother Vanessa Whitmore, beloved “Nanny” Stephanie Whitmore, stepfather Steve Rosicato, sisters Aryanna Lemos and Kerissa Rosicato, brother Anthony Christian Rosicato, grandfather Larry Whitmore (Brenda), grandmother Jackie Gregory, Uncles Andrew Whitmore (Jennifer Schmidt), Albert Lemos, Anthony Delgado, Aunts Danielle, Melissa Lemos-Vanover, Margaret Lemos, Monique Delgado, Shannon McNeal, Angelina Gregory, godmother Jennifer Kersage, biological father Robert Lemos, and countless members of the Whitmore, Donahue, Rosicato, Lemos, and other families.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Riley Hospital for taking outstanding care of her, both in her final days and over the last two decades. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Riley Children’s Foundation or IndyHumane in Alicia’s honor.
Visitation will take place on Friday May 28th at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm, where a celebration of life will begin at 4:00 pm. Flanner Buchanan has been entrusted with all arrangements.
