Alice “June” Sims of Indianapolis died October 9, 2020 at the age of 94.
She was born June 24, 1926 in Indianapolis to the late Walter L. and Alice K. Hamilton.
June spent her life in Indianapolis. She worked at Howard W. Sams during the War and went on to work in retail for the remainder of her working career including JCPenney’s and Regina Bakery.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, eating out (she loved her ice cream), the beach, but most of all just enjoyed life. She was a Bloomer with the Red Hats.
She is survived by her daughter Sherry Vail (Charlie); grandchildren Ed Vail (Gay), Maynard Soukup (Jessica), Kelly Williamson (Kevin), Todd Crail, Terra Wilson (Tim), Joani Tannehill, and Jamie Hawkersmith; 18 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sister Victoria M. Woods (Woody); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands Edwin Hawkersmith, Bill Tomanovich, and Bob Sims; children Jan Crail and Bruce Hawkersmith (and his wife Donna); grandson Mike Vail; siblings Helen Mabel and Robert Louis; and her dog Jiggs.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 13 from 4 to 8 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 14 at 11 AM with visitation 10 AM until the time of service at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
