Alice Bernita Scott

Alice Bernita Scott, 89, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away October 27, 2019. She was born April 28, 1930 in McQuady, Kentucky to Alvie and Constance Blunk; she was one of four daughters.

Alice’s family relocated to Indiana from Kentucky when she was just a child. She graduated from Washington High School in 1948. She met the love of her life, Kenneth D. Scott, through mutual friends and the rest of their love story is history. They were married in 1950 and spent 56 beautiful years together watching their family grow. The remained deeply in love at the time of Kenneth’s passing on November 2, 2006. Alice worked many retail jobs throughout the years, but her most cherished job was that of a homemaker for her family. She was a wonderful cook, especially her fried chicken and liver and onions. She was an excellent pitcher, golfer, and even bowled on a ladies traveling bowling team, scoring numerous perfect games. Alice was president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary at post #497 and was was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. While all of these facts describe Alice’s life, family remembers her best as an amazing mother, grandmother, and friend to all. She was caring, reassuring, and very involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren. Her passing leaves an empty space in the hearts of those who were blessed enough to meet her; she was truly one of a kind.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Alvie and Constance; loving husband of 56 years, Kenneth; three sisters, Nola, Rosalie, and Mary. Surviving to carry on her legacy are children, Deborah (Gary) Hines, Jeff (Diana) Scott, and Sarah Scott; grandchildren, Kellie (Craig), Kenny (Lesley), Julie (Jeff), David (Kristin), Dusty (Jenny), Kerrie (Justin), Chad, Courtney; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

Family would like to especially recognize Alice’s daughter, Sarah Scott, who has been an amazing caretaker to her mother since 2007. Sarah, your care and love are very much noticed and appreciated by all.

All are welcome to visit Thursday, October 31 from 10 AM-12 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Road, Indianapolis, IN 46222. Funeral services will take place at 12 PM.  Alice will be laid to rest next to her husband at Floral Park Cemetery immediately following funeral services.
