Life Reflection

Alfred “Skip” Dartis Jr. was born on November 3, 1965, in Indianapolis to Alfred and Rose Dartis.
Skip attended IPS #43 Elementary School and Shortridge Middle School. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1984. He attended Triton Junior College where he played football.
Alfred was employed in the food production industry, the longest at Cross Road Farms Dairy and Conagra Foods.
Alfred professed his hope in Jesus Christ, and he was baptized in Indianapolis at Messiah Baptist Church. In 1995, Alfred married Emma J. Henry. This union bore three sons; Darrien, Cameron, and Justin Dartis. Alfred and Emma were married 26 years.
Alfred was a humble and unassuming man who was liked by all who knew him. He enjoyed playing basketball and football in high school and college. Alfred enjoyed visiting with family and friends, traveling, watching basketball and football games, cooking and grilling, and playing with the family dog, Tanner.
Upon his return from vacationing in Hawaii, Alfred took ill and departed this life on Thursday June 9, 2022, at 2:30pm in St. Vincent’s Hospital at the age of 56. He was preceded in death by his father, Alfred Dartis, grandmother Pauline Hutcherson, and aunt, Claudia Price.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Emma J. (Henry) Dartis, three sons, Darrien, Cameron, and Justin of Indianapolis, his mother Rose Dartis, sisters, Nichole Dartis, Michelle Dartis, Heather Dartis, Pamela Ervin-Richardson, Gina Washington (Barry), and Monica Cantrell, brothers, Alfred Russell Dartis (Kelly), and Jason Dartis, and a host of relatives and friends in Indianapolis, Tennessee, Michigan, and Minnesota.
