Alexander Joshua Gerth

Alexander Joshua Gerth, age 23, of Indianapolis passed away at his home on August 18, 2016.

Alex was born on November 17, 1992 in Indianapolis and grew up in Carmel, Indiana, attending Carmel High School.

During his youth in Carmel, Alex enjoyed participating in Dad's Club sports, the Indianapolis Children's Choir, the Carmel Swim Club, Hamilton County 4-H, and the Boy Scouts. He also played the piano and the violin and loved bowling, skiing, camping, traveling, reading, and cars.

Alex is survived and will be dearly missed by his parents, Mark and Kathryn Gerth, his brother, Matthew Gerth, his grandfather Emil Gerth of Elwood, his grandmother Maxine Johnson of Strawberry Point, Iowa, Aunt Nancy Gerth, Aunt Karen Hobart, Uncles Luke (Agnes) Gerth, Philip (Mary Ann) Gerth, Brian (Mimi) Gerth, Al (Susan) Gerth, and Stephen Baker; Cousins Andrew, Nicole, David, Jonathan, Steven Gerth and Chris Herzmann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Carmel at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 24. Visitation will be at the church at 9:30 a.m. before the service. Burial will be in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Alex's name to Brain & Behavior Research Foundation at www.bbrfoundation.org. Arrangements by Flanner and Buchanan-Carmel.
