96, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 with his loving family by his side. Alex was born in Indianapolis, IN on July 21, 1921 to parents, Louis and Helen (Kosta) Christ. He graduated from Broad Ripple High School and went on to serve a carpenter apprenticeship and attended Indiana University. A member of the “Greatest Generation”, Alex endured a lot in his life. Growing up during the Great Depression, serving his country honorably in the US Army during WWII in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and going on to live a full life as husband, father, bread winner, mentor, friend and above all, a great person to know.

Alex was a hard worker, he retired in 1981 after 40 years with the Kroger Company as Supervisor of Construction. Following retirement, Alex and his wife, Silva, retired to Ft. Myers, FL for 39 years. He was a member of the Mystic Circle Masonic Lodge #685 F&A.M., where he served as Master in 1957, the Murat Temple, Scottish Rite, Eastern Star #384, American Legion Post #3; VFW Post #8463 in Cape Coral, FL; and Local Union #60 Carpenters. He had a great love for his religion and his church.

In his 96 years, Alex never met anyone he didn’t like or wouldn’t talk to. He was a people person. He was liked by all and was a father anyone would have wanted and loved dearly. He was very loving and compassionate and will be deeply missed.

Alex was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Silva E. (Waddy) Christ; brothers, James Christ and Robert Christ; sister, Olga Wisehart; and his close friend and companion later in life, Jane King.

He is survived by his son, Ronald L. Christ (Vicki); daughter, Candy C. Harmon (Jeff); grandchildren: Shawn Christ, Bryan Christ, Ty McKerlie, Casey Reese, and Grant Burgess; great-grandchildren: Brendon Christ, Brooke Christ, Alex Christ, Cayden McKerlie, Ethan McKerlie, Lacy Garlick, Jaxson Reese and Colton Reese; sisters, Catherine Fuson, Keva Woods and Rosemary Draga.

Friends may call from 10am until 12 Noon on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, where his funeral services will immediately follow at 12 Noon. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery.
