Alexander "Alex" Noble Miller

January 31, 2002 — December 30, 2020

Carmel, IN

Alexander “Alex” Noble Miller was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on January 31, 2002 to Scott and Vanessa (Mauch) Miller. He passed away in his sleep on December 30, 2020 from an undetected heart condition that resulted in a large pulmonary embolism. During his short life, he developed many meaningful relationships. He was thoughtful and compassionate and was the source of our laughter.

He leaves behind many loving family members including his parents, sisters Olivia and Caroline, grandparents David and Ann Miller and John and Connie Mauch, uncle Chris Miller, aunts Jennifer Mauch and Nancy Johnston, aunt and uncle Aaron and Julie Mauch and cousins Tyler and Tanner Mauch. He also leaves behind several football teams worth of extended relatives and his “surrogate” parents Cassy and Jeff Pickett who loved him like their own. He is going to be watching over his “Squad” Justin Pickett, Jakob Pickett, Brandon Matura and Caleb Hussain. Finally, he is survived by his best dog Maximus, his indifferent dog Ruby, his idiot puppy Gus, and his respected opponent Charles the cat.

He was a proud 2020 graduate of Carmel High School and had just completed his first semester at Indiana University Bloomington majoring in Sports Management with a minor in Business.

To anyone who knew Alex, the things he held dear were clear – family, friends, laughter, sports, IU Hoosiers, Colts football, and cars. He also loved traveling and left behind a globe-trotting bucket list that we will try to complete for him. He loved to cook and try new cuisines. He also had a secret artistic side for creating pottery.

Alex was insightful beyond his years and kept several scripture verses and quotes close to him. These formed the basis upon which he lived his life.
“In the end, it’s not the years in your life, it’s the life in your years.” – Anonymous

We would love to be able to celebrate his life with you but due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be unable to do so. This is heartbreaking for us because the outpouring of stories and shared memories in recent days from those who knew him have been a calming salve during this dark time. A recording of his memorial service will be available online and on demand the evening of January 7, 2021 at www.flannerbuchanan.com.

In lieu of flowers, we would prefer (and believe Alex would as well) a memorial contribution to improving the lives of others. Alex was passionate about sports and was inclusive of challenged individuals. Please consider a donation to the following organizations.
Helping Challenged Children, Inc. www.helpingchallengedchildren.org

Online condolences and a photo tribute are available at www.flannerbuchanan.com. An on demand recording of the service will also be available the evening of January 7, 2021.

Since we are unable to gather together, those wishing to leave a private message or video tribute for Alex’s family may do so using Alex’s email address [email protected].
