Alexander "Alex" Christian Surface

Alexander Christian Surface, 26, of Indianapolis passed away on February 25, 2019

Alex was born on February 28, 1992 in Peoria, Illinois to Christian “Scott” Surface and Jennifer Jones. He graduated from Pike High School and attended Indiana University. He has most recently been working as a bartender and server for Giordano’s Pizza; prepped and served food at East 10^th Street United Methodist Church Daycare Center and also helped in their aftercare program. He loved being outdoors exploring, adventuring, camping, hiking and working in his gardens. Anyone who knew Alex knew his love of flowers and cats, he had a heart for rescuing animals. He was an artist who enjoyed painting and enjoyed collecting stones, crystals and rocks. He had the opportunity to study Spanish for 5 years and had dreams of being an interpreter. During the summer of his junior year of high school, Alex had good enough grades and had saved enough money that he was able to attend a full immersion summer trip to Valencia, Spain. He also earned the Presidential Academic award while at Pike High School. Alex had a big heart for others and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

He leaves behind his parents, Christian “Scott” Surface (Audra) and Jennifer Jones (Bob); grandparents, Karen Surface, Terry Surface (Judy), Larry Surface, Diana Searles, Dennis Searles (Peggy), Robert Jones Jr., and Doris Carson; great-grandmother, Ginny Bouchie; siblings, Lillian Surface, Garrett Warner, Skylar Sweany, Camryn Sweany, and Justin Jones; along with many other beloved family members and friends.

Family and friends are invited to gather from 12:00pm-3:00pm at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park East, with a celebration of life to follow at 3:00pm on Saturday, March 2, 2019.
