Alex Papakosmas

Alex M. Papakosmas 103 years old of Carmel, IN died October 24, 2018. Alex was of Greek descent and was born on December 30, 1914 in Thrace, Turkey before moving to Greece. He is the last of seven children born to Michael and Katherine (Christythou) Papakosmas. Alex was a custom shoe maker for men’s and women’s shoes back in Greece. In November of 1954 Alex came to America to begin his American dream in this country, residing in Gary, then Munster, IN and in 1985 relocated to Carmel IN. Alex is a faithful member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Alex is married and survived by his wife Hionoula (Nalbandi) Papakosmas for 72 years along with their children; Mary (George) Pappas, Katherine (Retired General Jeffrey) Sorenson and Frank (Karen) Cosmas and Pappou to Alexandra Cain, Katherine Pappas, Jamie Rangel, Bradley, Erik and Marc Sorenson and Christina and Phillip Cosmas and Propappou to Zoe and Jacquie Cain and Christopher Sorenson. Calling will be held on Sunday October 28, 2018 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral 3500 West 106th Street Carmel from 4 to 8 pm with a Trisagion Service at 7:30 pm. Additional calling will be held at the church Monday October 29, 2018 from 10 to 11 followed by the funeral service at 11 am. Memorial contributions may be given to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Burial will be in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Fishers, IN. Flanner Buchanan-Oaklawn Memorial Gardens handling arrangements.
