Alene Mae Gibbs

Alene Mae Gibbs, 98 years old passed away August 11, 2024. She was born in Nashville, Tennessee on May 26, 1926, to the late Basil Mills and Stella Mae (Evans) Landrum. Alene was a loving Homemaker to her family. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Fountain Run, Kentucky, member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Holland, Kentucky and attended the Westview Baptist Church here in Indianapolis, Indiana for many years and in her later years attended West Morris Street Free Methodist Church, also in Indianapolis, Indiana. Alene loved to fish and was a member for many years of the Indianapolis Conservation Club where she made many friends. She loved to spend time with her family and especially cooking for them. She enjoyed watching her daily soap operas in the afternoon and referred to them as “her stories.” One of her favorite pastimes was going to Branson, Missouri with her family to catch the show put on by the entertainer, Mickey Gilley, whom she was a true fan of his. Alene was survived by her daughters, Marilyn (Ronnie) Holland, Pamela (Thomas) Krier, her grandchildren, Jason (Jerie) Holland, Robyn Gibbs, Alyson (Luke) Brislain, Stephanie (Bobby) Coppadge, Lucas (Ciara) Krier, her great grandchildren, Jessica Holland, Justin Holland, Tommy Brislain, Victor Brislain, Landon Coppadge, Lucille Krier, and Amelia Coppadge. Besides her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Randall Gibbs, her sons, Ronald Gibbs, Michael Gibbs, her sisters, JoAnn (Edwin) Norris, Yvonne “Tootsie” (Bobby) Reynolds, Jean (Burton) Garmon, and her brothers, E.C. “Sharpy” (Anna) Landrum, Billy Mills Landrum. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, 12:00pm -2:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Floral Park with the funeral there at 2:00pm. She will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.
