Alan Arthur Seifert

Alan Arthur Seifert, 81, Indianapolis, went home to be with his Lord October 19, 2024. He was born in Saginaw, Michigan to Eunice Marie (Hartmann) and Arthur Sigmund Seifert. Alan attended Muskegon Senior High graduating in 1960. He then went to the General Motors Institute in Flint, Michigan but deferred his education to join the Air Force in 1962. During his military service he was deployed to Takhli AFB, Thailand. He was an egress mechanic working on F-105 Thunderchiefs and F-111 Aardvarks in his combat support role. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Upon returning home, Alan completed a mechanical engineering degree at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. During this time, he also worked for EJ Korvette and then for Chrysler Defense. After receiving his degree, Alan moved his young family as opportunities occurred, moving from Lima, Ohio, to Jamestown, New York, to Columbus, Indiana. With additional moves that included Iola, Kansas, Wixom, Michigan and finally returning to Indiana for his final career with BVQI (Bureau Veritas Quality International) as a ISO/Quality Systems Auditor before retiring in 2015. He enjoyed golfing, tending to his vegetable garden, music, fishing, home improvement projects to numerous to list, and building furniture for his family. He enjoyed the company of his many good friends and never turned down dessert.  

He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Diane Kay (Perry) Seifert, children Scott Alan Seifert (Amy Spisak), Todd Eric Seifert (Monique Miller). Grandchildren include Emily, Ellie, and Matthew (of Tucson, AZ) and Alex, Jacob, and Zachary (of Indianapolis, IN), sisters Diane Nye and Deborah VanderWier (both of Muskegon, MI). And several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on October 30 at Faith Presbyterian Church, 8170 Hague Rd, Indianapolis, IN, 46256. Visitation will begin there at 10:00 AM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens, Fishers, IN.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Benjamin Harrison YMCA, 5736 Lee Rd, Indianapolis, IN, 46216.
