ADORA BLISS BRICE, age 60, passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2021, while hospitalized at the Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana, after a difficult battle with cancer. On July 23, 1961, Adora was born in Washington, Pennsylvania, and was the youngest child of Paul Catlin and Elinora Brice. Devoted partner to Kris Airgood, who cared for her daily and beloved mother to Gabreil Christian and Dion Jamar Edwards, whom she affectionately called her “moon and sun.”
Adora loved life. In addition, she was an “adoringly “proud grandmother to De’Amor Jillian and Brice Gabriel Edwards, for whom she prepared fun gift boxes. Adora earned a Bachelor’s degree from Westwood University and was Nurse Team Lead in Special Medicine Ambulatory Service at Eskenazi Health. She loved her work and was proud to serve alongside a committed team of healthcare professionals.
Alas, many will remember her dimpled smile and as a lover of jokes, pranks, Halloween, magic, and the sweet sound of the violin. Adora Bliss lived the epitome of her name as she inspired great affection, delight, charm, and joy within those who knew and loved her.
C.S. Lewis said, “Hardships often prepare people for an extraordinary destiny.” Adora lost both her parents before she reached age 12 and spoke of missing them often. The compassion and empathy she shared for others are evident in many living recipients touched by her intelligence, kindness, generosity, and quick wit.
In addition to her parents, Adora was preceded in death by three brothers: Ford Catlin, Leonard James, and George Edward. She will be deeply missed by siblings: Annetta Ferguson, Alana Brice, and Paul Brice; close friends: Clara Lee-Nutt, Elma Young, and Collette Rogers; several colleagues; and a host of nieces and nephews.
On Saturday, October 30, 2021, from 2:00-4:00 PM, a celebration of Adora’s life will occur at Flanner Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis, IN 46220, (317) 475-4475.
In place of flowers, you may contribute to her grandchildren’s college fund (Details are forthcoming).
Special thank you to all of the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Eskenazi Hospital.
