Adam Jay Ulsh

January 26, 1977 — March 4, 2023

Westfield, IN

Adam Ulsh, 46, of Westfield, Indiana passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2023, at his home. Adam was born on January 26, 1977, in Rushville, Indiana. He graduated from Hamilton Heights High School and Butler University. Adam was employed by Freedom Mortgage as a Business Analyst.

Adam (also affectionately known as “Peanut”) had a personality that was larger than life with a laugh to match. To say he left an impression on everyone he met would be a gross understatement.

On November 13, 2022, Adam married the love of his life, Libby Anderson. Somehow Libby turned a lifelong barn cat into a suburbanite with a home that included a garage large enough for his oversized truck to be parked crookedly without bothering others. Libby brought out a wonderful new side of Adam that many thought they might never see. Along with mourning Adam’s passing, friends and family are mourning the briefness of Adam and Libby’s life together.

Adam was an avid sports fan, staunchly supporting the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Hoosiers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and whoever was playing Purdue. He left this world having never forgiven Andrew Luck for retiring. Adam had a golf game that ran hot and cold, akin to a broken furnace. Adam was the unwilling passenger in no less than a half dozen golf cart crashes, all of which he attributed to “engineers not designing them for men of his stature.”

Adam’s interests included music and losing money to his friends and family in card games. He saw his favorite band, Phish, over 50 times and had a singing voice he once proclaimed to be “pretty damn good all things considered.” Somewhere Peanut is overplaying two pair in Poker and winning a Texas Hold Em’ tournament.

Adam was the fun uncle who said wholly inappropriate things around children, having taught many children new words they could never in good conscience repeat. He could quote “The Simpsons” with an encyclopedic level of accuracy and trademark laughter.

Adam is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Libby) Anderson; parents, William and Jean Ann (Wagoner) Ulsh of Locust, North Carolina; sister, Amy Jo (Ulsh) Sheets (Jason) of Statesville, North Carolina; nephew, Malachi Crew; niece, Abigail Crew; grandparents, Gene and Donna (Craven) Wagoner of Homer, IN and James and Marilyn (Sink) Eiler of Indianapolis, Indiana; mother-in-law, Mary June Witte Anderson; and brother-in-law, Thomas Owen Anderson, of Moscow Mills, Missouri. Adam is also survived by a loving cast of scoundrels, heathens and ne’er do wells he called friends.

Adam left an indelible mark on the world and his death has left an immense void in the lives of countless people. He was a fast friend to whomever he met, and his witty quips and incredible sense of humor will be missed by many. He was truly one of a kind and life was better with Adam in it! When you think of Adam, please take joy in the laughter and fun memories that he brought to your life.
