William Thomas Smith Jr. (Will), age 46, died suddenly of a heart attack while riding his bicycle on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018.
Will is survived by his loving wife, Emily Marten Warner Smith; mother-in-law Diane Marten, of Indianapolis; father-in-law Bob Warner; step-mother-in-law Jan Warner; and half siblings Claire and Sam Warner; parents Ruth and Bill Smith of Valparaiso, siblings Tom (Stephanie) Smith of Solsberry, IN, Susan Nobles of Hobart, IN, Debbie (Bruce) Mason of Norman, OK, and Diane Smith of Valparaiso, IN; nieces Amber (Andrew) Zimmer, Kirstin (Ryan) Craven, Samantha Mason (fiancé James Russell); nephews Tommy (Gabby) Smith, Aaron Nobles, Bradley Smith (Alyssa Miller), Noah Smith, and Mitchell Mason.
Will was born April 20, 1972 in Valparaiso, IN. He was a 1990 graduate of Valparaiso High School and a 1997 graduate of Purdue University, with degrees in computer science and math education. Will taught math at Hammond Morton High School for seven years and was currently employed as a programmer at Carbonite in Indianapolis.
Will married Emily Warner July 3, 2011, at the Lutheran Deaconess Center, Valparaiso, IN. Loving husband and son, Will also loved his dogs (Samson, Blue, and Daisy), and was an avid mountain biker. He is fiercely loved and dearly missed by family and friends.
Memorial service on Friday, Dec. 7, 2018, at Servants of Christ Lutheran Church in Oaklandon.
