William Karl (Bill) Bissey, 80, died January 28, 2021, in Fishers, Indiana. He was a resident of Allisonville Meadows Assisted Living in Fishers.
Bill was born August 18, 1940, in Columbus, Indiana, to Harry Carl and Mary M. (Fleming) Bissey.
He graduated from Columbus, Indiana Senior High School in 1958 and went on to acquire two degrees in finance from Indiana University- a B.S. in 1962 and an MBA in 1964.
He served in the U.S. Army 1965-66, receiving an honorable discharge.
After military service, Bill worked in the purchasing department of Arvin Industries for four years. His next stop was a five year stint teaching various business administration and economics courses at Ohio Northern University in Ada, Ohio.
Bill then entered the world of commercial banking in the internal auditing department of Merchants National Bank in Indianapolis. After four years there, he joined the international department of American Fletcher National Bank, where he specialized in international economic and country risk analysis. He retired after AFNB merged with Bank One.
Bill was a member of Northwest Masonic Lodge No. 770 in Indianapolis, as well as numerous other masonic and philanthropic organizations, including Scottish Rite, York Rite and Amvets 99. A gifted researcher and writer, he edited the quarterly news magazine of the state lodge.
Bill had many hobbies and interests, including travel, short wave radio, history, and stamp collecting.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 3 from 2-4 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St, Indianapolis.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Zoo or to The Indianapolis Humane Society.
