William John Majeske (Bill), 77, of Avon, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 31, after a valiant fight with cancer.
Survivors include his second wife, Elouise McAbee Majeske, whom he married on September 3, 2005; son Jeffrey (Diane) of Canton, Michigan; daughter Amy (Bryan) of Webster Groves, Missouri; daughter Rebecca (Cory) of Indianapolis; his sister Charlotte Mautz of Chino Hills, California; two nieces; a nephew; six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Florence Rife.
Born May 26, 1944, in Kewanee, Illinois, he was the son of Charles and Clara Majeske. On February 4, 1967, he married Carol Sue Hall in Macomb, Illinois. They moved to Indianapolis in 1968 and enjoyed many happy years together raising their family, taking vacations and being actively involved in their children’s lives. Carol preceded Bill in death on July 29, 2004.
Bill’s marriage to Elouise was happy and fulfilling. Bill and Elouise enjoyed traveling and spending time with friends and family. Their winters spent in Pensacola, Florida, were especially enjoyable. Bill also treasured the relationships he built with Elouise’s three daughters, Kelly McAbee, Suzanne Torres and Christy Scott, and their children and grandchildren. Elouise and her daughters were loving and supportive of Bill in his final months, which is greatly appreciated by everyone.
Bill was an expert in the field of industrial oils and lubricants, working for Texaco, Superior Oil Company and Miller Oil Company during this career. He was well-respected for his business acumen, and, more importantly, his ethics.
Bill was a multitalented individual who played 6-string and 12-string guitar and banjo, assembled a wide array of furniture, built nearly 100 model airplanes and coached Little League baseball. His passions, besides his lifelong devotion to his family, included music, airplanes and history, especially World War II and the Civil War. Bill also was a dedicated fan of the Chicago Bears and faithfully watched them every week.
In addition to his family, Bill leaves behind many friends and extended family who cherish his memory.
