Virginia Mae Carter (Glover)

85, of Indianapolis, passed away June 15, 2017. She was born to the late Sylvan Olen Glover and the late Mary Edna Glover (Head) on July 4, 1931 in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Virginia graduated from Broad Ripple High School in 1949. She married her loving husband, Stanley Glen Carter, December 3, 1954. They were married for 49 years. She was a lifelong member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Virginia retired from Carpenter Technology after 30 years of service. She enjoyed her trips to Las Vegas with her husband. In May of 2004, Stanley and Virginia renewed their vows in The Little Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. She loved casinos, soap operas, and the daily crossword puzzles. She was a contestant on Hoosier Millionaire in 1993. Virginia loved spending time with family, especially if it was at family dinners at Red Lobster or Olive Garden.

Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memory her Children; Barbara Hunt (Daniel), Allen W. Carter (Brenda), Terry A. Wright (Fred), Kathleen J. Yoder (Bob), and LaVonna Baker (Jim); 18 Grandchildren, and 17 Great Granchildren.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; Sylvan and Mary Glover; Husband, Stanley G. Carter; Son, Emil R Harvey Jr.; Stepson, Stanley G. Carter Jr.; Sister, Betty Gaffin (Glover); and Great-Granddaughter Laney May Stogsdill-Sutton.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all the health care professionals and caregivers for their care and compassion.

A Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 11AM-2PM with a service following at 2PM at Flanner Buchanan-Floral Park 425 N. Holt Rd. Virginia will be laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Virginia’s memory to IU Hospice or Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.
