Virginia Lee (Strattan) Wood, age 88, of Indianapolis, passed away April 9, 2017. She was born on May 10, 1928 in Indianapolis, as the youngest of 10 children, to Benjamin and Mary (Middough) Strattan.
Virginia worked for RCA for 25 years as the first female foreman, before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star in Beech Grove, Cumberland Christian Church and Al Anon family group. She enjoyed reading, cooking, spending time with her great-grandsons, hosting the holiday meals for her family and being a volunteer at Community Hospital East.
Virginia is survived by her sons, John (Chris) Wood and Tom (Julie) Wood; grandchildren, Dawn (Greg) Sethman, Doug (Jennifer) Wood and Jeffrey Thomas (Wendie) Wood; and 6 great-grandsons. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, George L. Wood.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 at 10 a.m. also at the funeral center.
