Timothy Kevin Mcgrath

Beloved “Family Man” and Coach, Timothy Kevin McGrath of Indianapolis, IN, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2023, at the age of 70 from a heart condition. Timothy was born in Indianapolis, IN on February 6, 1953.  His parents, A. Frank and JoAnn McGrath preceded him in death. Timothy graduated from North Central HS in 1971. Graduated from Vincennes University with an Associate’s Degree in 1973 and attended Indiana State University. Marianne and Tim met at Woolco Dept store in 1974. He went on to work 31 years for Citizen’s Gas as a long-time meter reader until retiring in 2012. Tim was a longtime parishioner, coach, and volunteer at St. Simon’s, CYO Sports, and Cathedral Football Chain Crew. Tim loved to visit the library and read, listen to his music, attend sporting events; plan road trips to explore; give out directions; have social opportunities, and anything to do with The Ohio State University. He never met a stranger!

Timothy married Marianne (Flanagan) on April 24,1976 and they spent 46 wonderful years together. He is also survived by his children, Jennifer (Mike) Ford, Brian (Tareca) McGrath, Michael McGrath, James McGrath, Robert McGrath (Amy Shalkowski); grandchildren, Kylee (Larell) Carpenter, Nathan McGrath, Collin McGrath, Drew McGrath, Dade Shalkowski, Sara Ford, and Sadie Ford; and great-granddaughter, Mileena Carpenter. He is also survived by his sister Mary K Pitts. Left to cherish his memory by many extended family and friends both here in Indiana and in Ohio. Timothy loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all.

Visitation will be held from 4pm until 8pm, Friday, February 24, 2023, at Flanner – Buchanan – Geist (7855 Cork Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46236). Additional visitation will be held at 10am, Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Simon Catholic Church. A Funeral Service will be held following, at 11am, Saturday, February 25, 2023, at St. Simon Catholic Church (8155 Oaklandon Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46236). Burial will follow funeral services at Flanner Buchanan – Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery (9700 Allisonville Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46250).
