Thelma is preceded in death by her husband Max R. Forrest in February, 1985, her parents Albert and Goldie (Jones) Miller, her brother Robert (Josephine) Miller; her sister Genevieve (Jack) Bridwell; one niece and two nephews.
Thelma was born at home on March 13, 1921 in Indianapolis, Indiana, graduated from Tech High School 1939. She married Max on December 9, 1939 and continued to live and work in Indianapolis. Thelma was a Girl Scout leader for 10 years, worked for L.S. Ayres department store as a salesperson and secretary for 20 years. After retiring she moved with her husband (Max) to Bradenton, Florida, where she volunteered at the animal shelter for several years. She loved working with the people at the shelter and working with all the cats and dogs brought to the shelter. She often took home dogs and/or cats that needed extra care or when the shelter ran out of room for all the animals.
Thelma very much enjoyed her volunteering, walking the beach searching for shells and star fish with her now deceased brother. After Max died in February, 1985 she continued to live in Florida until her brother (Robert Miller) died. She returned to the Indianapolis area in 2004 and lived in Cicero, Indiana moving recently to Sanders Glen in Westfield until her death. She was a member of the Noblesville Senior Center and attended almost every day. She loved playing dominoes, euchre, bid euchre and bingo for fun both at the center and at the American Legion in Cicero. She volunteered her services at the center organizing the bazaar area for a while and sometimes as the bingo caller. Thelma also enjoyed reading, working puzzles, working crossword puzzles and gardening when she could get out and walk and work in her yard.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends for her loving, feisty stubborn personality and lately a roll of the eyes when she did not like your answer to a question.
