Suzanne Marie Godich

Suzanne Marie (Suzy) Godich, 76, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. She was born on September 29, 1945, as the oldest of 5 children to the late Donald and Suzanne (Steffen) Geringer. She graduated from St. Agnes Academy in 1963, and then from Butler University in 1967 with a BA in English. She then earned her Master’s degree in English from Indiana University in 1970. Suzy married her husband, John Paul Godich, in September 1974.

Suzy was employed by the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as an administrative assistant and bookkeeper in their development office. She was also an accomplished pianist. In her retirement from the Symphony, Suzy was active in the League of Women Voters, and served as their observer at meetings of the Indianapolis City-County Council.

Suzy is survived by her husband of 48 years, John Paul Godich; sisters, Jeanne Kerr (Ralph), Ellen Geringer (Chris Tarp), Mimi Geringer; and brother, Bill Geringer (Nancy); as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, from 6:30pm to 9pm at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple. A funeral Mass will be held the following day, September 16, at Holy Spirit Parish at Geist at 11am, with additional visitation an hour preceding the Mass. Suzy will be laid to rest in Our Lady of Peace Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra or to Butler University.
