Susan Jane Pleasant

Susan Jane Pleasant, 79, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to be with her Heavenly Father on December 29, 2022, peacefully at Hoosier Village with her husband at her side. She was born December 22, 1943, to Jennie F and Oran Lee Weaver in Marion, Indiana.

Susan graduated from Pendleton High School in 1962, and she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Butler University on August 5, 1966. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority. She obtained her Master of Social Work from Indiana University on June 11, 1971.

Susan met her husband Randy Pleasant while attending Butler and they were married on September 16, 1967. Susan was a school social worker for Indianapolis Public Schools for over 40 years. She had a passion for helping all the children who attended her various schools. Susan was an active member of Speedway United Methodist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.

After retirement she volunteered at the Indianapolis Museum of Art where she loved to work in their flower gardens. Susan had a passion for nature especially bird watching and planting flowers. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband to Australia, Europe and within the US.

One of Susan’s biggest loves where the many family animals in her life. She enjoyed babysitting her children’s pets Sophie, Leroy, Bella and Tyler, as well as spoiling her own pets Heidi, Puddles, Spritz, Little and Smokey.

She was preceded in death by her parents Oran Lee and Jennie Weaver, and sister Linda Hays, Susan is survived by her husband of 56 years, Randolph Pleasant; daughter, Lisa Pleasant; son, Andrew Pleasant (Ashley, Abbi, and Andrew); and her grand-dog Leroy.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2023, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. with the Funeral service to be held at 2:00 p.m., at Flanner Buchanan- Speedway, 2950 N. High School Rd., Speedway, Indiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 North Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60601, Floor 17 in her name.
